History

The Founder

Ervie Barnett

How it started...

The first day of business for Barnett's was June 3, 1957.

The founder Ervie Barnett retired in December 1977. The daily operation of Barnett's was passed to Janice Barnett and stayed in the family for 3 generations from 1957-2002.

Barnett's Dairyette was again sold in February 2002, and for the very first time, the business was not under the ownership of the Barnett family, but instead Reid Carroll.

And Now!

Jacob Frese purchased Barnett's Dairyette June 27th, 2017.

His goal is to continue the rich history of Barnett's Dairyette.

Where summer fun meant an ice cream cone at Barnett’s Dairyette and cruising down the long quiet roads. Where community spirit was alive and everyone knew the Soda Jerks by name!  Barnett’s Dairyette became part of those forgotten summers and Jacob will keep the memory alive by breathing fresh air into old traditions.

""Say hello to yumminess when you come here!  Wow I love Barnett's!!  So like this place has been around forever, so you know it's gotta be good, and it is.  Barnett's is an old fashioned hamburger stand, with nostalgic indoor eating, and tables outside too.""

""This quest of mine to find the most perfect cheeseburger in my opinion is a curse when it's kinda in the middle of nowhere and 6 hours away from home... For me the size of the burger was perfect, but a hungry man probably will want a double.  Definitely a place to stop if you want to be transported back to the 1950's.  Already thinking of another excuse to have to visit again sooner than later.""

""This place is too cute! The prices are great, you're greeted with a smile and it takes you back to a time when life was a little simpler. I love a place that gives you an experience.""

""Great atmosphere in this little Dairyette. Take a look outside for the original menu. Small menu which is great, keeps quality up. I enjoy the 2 different fry options. The handcut were my personal favorite, they were crispier than the crinkle cut. The Reese's cyclone was so good!!""

"Great little time hop to a simpler era.  Local hometown feel and great food.  Nothing fancy or extraordinary but the experience that reminds of my grandparents.  Get the Bacon Cheeseburger, you won't regret it."
